Seashore Sketch – CCMC #249

This week’s challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary is to use a sketch.

Now I’d like to think it was just a case of following the sketch and… ta da… job done! Ha, ha! Things are never that simple, well at least not for me. If I tell you I started with a green/yellow/white idea and then progressed to using papers from the Print Poetry stack, you’ll wonder how I ended up creating this:

P1040078

I’m wondering too! I can only blame it on my current seashore obsession. I stamped the seashell on to the Whisper White using Marina Mist, then layered up all the papers, using the sketch to assist, before running the ribbon across. I stamped the label, taken from the Pop-Up Posies kit, and then added the seashell and starfish images. I’ve curled these too give a bit of added dimension. I also used Dimensionals to apply the label.

Love this beachy colour combination and adore the little pearls.

I’ve only recently discovered the Triple Layer Stamping technique (you will find loads of tutorials if you Google it) but having done so, I love it. It is very simple but very effective. Here’s my first go:

P1030826

I’ve used Marina Mist throughout. The seam binding ribbon was originally Baja Breeze, but I went over it with a Marina Mists stamp pad and it coloured up relly well. I cut down the long edges and then teased the threads so it frayed. I’ve added some little pearls as a finishing touch.

Can’t wait to try this technique some more.

Wedding card CCMC#245

It’s another sketch over at Create With Connie and Mary for challenge #245. As it is my cousin Olivia’s wedding on Saturday I decided to combine the challenge with creating her wedding card.

P1030572

I’m so pleased that I bought the Artisan Embellishments Kit when I placed my last Stampin Up! order. The lace that comes with it is absolutely dreamy and I hope Stampin’ Up! will sell it by the metre sometime very soon.

P1030570

I used Crumb Cake Designer Papers on Whisper White cardstock for the base and then ran the lace across the card, using Sticky Strip to adhere it. I’ve made a bow from the seam binding and attached a rose, which is from the kit, to the centre, first curling the stem around a cocktail stick. I tucked in the “LOVE” ticket, which is also from the kit and finally his and hers butterflies which I stamped and cut out.

P1030573

I have another friend getting married in the summer and intend to do a similar version of this card for her too as I just love how its turned out.

Another colour challenge over at Create With Connie and Mary using this lovely colour palette:

create

Daffodil Delight and Marina Mist I have a plenty, but not quite the same can be said of Not Quite Navy (see what I did?!) only the ink pad. So, taking all that into account, here’s what I came up with:

P1030481

I used Not Quite Navy to stamp the toadstool image and to ink the edges of all the papers. I also used a waterbrush to apply colour directly to colour in parts of the image.

P1030480

My Stampin’ Up! supplies are also lacking in ribbon, so I used strips of designer paper and card instead. I had a slightly giddy moment when I remembered that I DID have some Designer Buttons in Brights so popped on one in Daffodil Delight as the finishing touch.

P1030479

Now I’m very excited because I’ve just had word saying my order from Stampin’ Up! will be delivered tomorrow. I shall be home alone to received it and enjoy it!!

Making a man card

I do find man cards tricky to make. However, Stampin’ Up! have lots of lovely goodies that make the job a little easier and I am very pleased with my first SU card for a man.

P1030343The bunting is cut free-hand. Using the Polka Dot Parade in Marina Mist I’ve punched out 1″ squares, folded them in half to find the midway point and then cut them into triangles. The ribbons are 3/4″ strips which I’ve cut into. All the edges have been inked. I used a hot glue to stick the flags down and then added little blue buttons from my stash in between each piece.

P1030340

I stamped the R onto Whisper white and punched it out using the 1″ circle punch. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount it onto the Scallop circle, punched from Sahara Sand, and then used more dimensionals to apply this to a square of Polka Dot Parade. All the pieces, including the bunting were edged with Early Espresso.
